Christmas party time!|
What a wonderful morning we've had! - party games, dancing and lots of tasty snacks enjoyed afterwards.
Merry Christmas from Year 2! Have a lovely break and see you all next year!
Letters to Father Christmas|
Miss Reynolds's English group have been writing letters to Father Christmas to make sure his elves know exactly what to make for us this Christmas. We have asked for three things we would really like and said what we have done to deserve such lovely gifts. We also made sure to wish him and Mrs Claus a Merry Christmas!
Here we are posting our letters to make sure they get to Father Christmas in good time and hopefully he's not too busy to send us a reply!
Well done children for writing such super letters! Father Christmas will be so happy you've taken the time to send him one!
Fire Safety Talk|
We were very lucky this afternoon to have had a visit from two firemen, who came to talk to us about fire safety. We learnt a lot about the importance of having a fire plan - we tried out some of these procedures ourselves, including crawling (with our bums in the air!) and staying low to protect us from harmful smoke.
Our fireman and firewoman (Harry J and Ella C) came to the rescue and saved us all (and spike the dog) from the fire!
At the end of the talk, we received a helpful fire plan booklet and a fire safety tips sheet to take home.
Thank you both for teaching us about fire safety and what we need to do to protect ourselves :)
Look at our Fire Safety posters. if you need any more tips!
This week in English Miss Reynolds's English group have been looking at instructions.
To kick start our instruction writing we made we made some yummy Rice Krispie cakes.
After we made the Rice Krispie cakes, we wrote about what we did in our English books - we made our instructions really clear and used adverbs, imperatives and time connectives to help us do that.
We then got the opportunity to research different types of instructions, using the iPads. How to make gummy bears was our favourite!
Super work :)
Hoghton Tower trip|
We enjoyed a lovely day at Hoghton Tower. The children and teachers even dressed up as knights and ladies for the occasion! We looked at the room where King James I slept and found out that he rode around the house on a horse! We saw the ballroom where William Shakespeare may have taught and some children were fortunate enough to be knighted in The Great Hall. We met Jimmy in the dundgeons, although he looked a little skeletal.
All Year 2 children were very well behaved and asked some super questions.
Welcome to Year 2! The children have settled in and are working very hard.
Our topic this term is all about castles and we are looking forward to our trip to Hoghton Tower in October.
In R.E. we are learning about the Bible and why it is a special book for Christians. We were lucky enough this week to have Rev. Pauline Nixon come in and speak to us about why the Bible is a special book. She brought in lots of different types for us to see.
Thank you for coming in! We took lots of photographs for you to see!
